What's happening in your country? My ESOL homework - I

老師要求要想一些話題以供隔週上課討論, 這次的題目是:
What's happening in your country  today?
以下是我寫的:

Today, Taiwan is breaking into 2 parts. People in one part, expect Taiwan can become a normal country, just called Taiwan instead of Chinese Taipei or even China Taipei, because we know and actually we are not part of China. People in the other part don't believe Taiwan can successfully become a normal country, because China has aimed more than 2000 missiles at Taiwan. So they don't want to be the enemy of China. On the countrary, they focus on economic benefits brought from China. They think sooner or later Taiwan will join China family, they should stand a good position so as to earn more money in the future.

Actually I'm kind of worried I'm going to lose my country in decades. That's a partial reason I take my boys coming to New Zealand to study English. I want to increase more chance to let my children living in western society if necessary. In fact, I truly hope the Chinese government can be replaced and become a democratic country, which takes good care of his people as 1st priority and just leave Taiwan alone. That's a win-win result to both China and Taiwan. May god bless Taiwan.
